The design plans for an east/west bike path running between what is now the ILP and the Library have been completed. The project is estimated to cost ~$1.4 million, ⅔ of which will be funded by A.S. Bike Committee, and the remaining of which will be funded by Chancellor Assanis’s office. 

Over the next several months, the project team will obtain formal campus approval of the Major Capital Project package, complete regulatory approvals with agencies such as the California Coastal Commission and the Goleta Valley Water District, prepare the project to go out to construction bid, and secure contractors. Ideally, construction will begin during the 2026 summer break to minimize disruption on campus and complete the bike path prior to the 2026-2027 academic year.
